Dress Code – Piute MS
Students are here to learn, not star in a fashion show.
- Clothing must be worn in the manner it was designed as determined by admin.
- Clothing appropriateness and fit is determined by school staff.
- Boys - Sagging or over-sized clothing can’t be worn. If clothes have rips or holes, skin and undergarments must be covered from mid-thigh and up.
- Girls - All skirts and shorts will reach mid-thigh, and hems must be below the fingertips. Leggings must be covered by dress-code length shorts or skirts.
- Shirts/blouses will not be transparent, see-through, low cut, strapless, spaghetti straps, or reveal a bare midriff. Stomachs and shoulders will be covered and cleavage will be modest.
- Shoes must be school appropriate.
- Slippers or open-toe shoes can’t be worn. Heels should be a safe height (under 2”).
- Caps, hoods, beanies, and hats may be worn outside facing forward to protect from weather; however, students will take them off inside buildings or classrooms.
- Gloves and scarves are worn outside but taken off inside classrooms.
- Visible piercings and jewelry will be small, no larger than a quarter. Hanging or oversized jewelry that creates a safety concern is not allowed.
- Piercings are not allowed in PE.
- Inappropriate clothing, accessories and items are not allowed and may not interfere with the
operation of the school, as determined by administration. - Clothing and accessories that distract from student learning will be held in the office for parent pick-up.
